Game 20: 12-7-1
3 November vs. Maize South at 4:00 at Spring Hill (1-3)
Well, we fell once again to Maize South—this one with the help of the side official, some missed opportunities and two defensive lapses.
We opened the match playing so well. We scored quickly on a nice set piece from Muckerman to Weinrich to go up 1-0.
Shortly there after, we got to the baseline, t-ed it back through a great dummy that froze the keeper on the front post, but we skied it over the goal. That's on us.
A few minutes later we got another Bjorseth throw-in that Miles perfectly flicked to the back post where Liam timed it perfectly to touch it in; 2-0 we thought. But the linesman called it offsides. I figured it was until I saw the video footage (Check it out!). 2-0 would have made it a very different game.
Then we gave up one of those goals it seems we can only give up. That tied it at one, and our play greatly changed. A panic set in, and we began to bang the ball forward attack after attack. We can play such a good possession game, but after the goal we became overly direct.
We did get to halftime (without any corner kicks I might add), where we hoped to chat a bit, settled down a bit and get back on track.
Second half we did get off to a pretty solid start creating three immediate goal-scoring situations.
We got to the baseline again, creating another excellent opportunity. We also got Bobby a couple of long throws that lead to balls just wide of the net.
And then we had a miscommunication in the back that lead to another one of the unfortunate goals that have plagued us throughout the year.
After Maize South went up 2-1, we did not really generate much at all. Maize South added a goal before the final whistle.
Maize South defended us pretty well all match. When we got to the baseline (only twice) we had opportunities, and when we had throw-ins and free kicks we did as well.
So now we play, once again, for third in hopes of ending the season on a positive note. We will have to take on a good Salina South team that lost to Southwest, 3-2.

16:02 Geromel: (ball comes bouncing into the big box as it looks like there is a mix-up as to if the keeper is coming to get it, for it is weakly headed away at the last moment into the center of the field where Geromel chips it into an empty net)
10:53 6 (23 with the pass in out of the free kick as #6 beats 3 layers of defense off the dribble)
