EKL Standings

Instant Karma's coming to get you (John Lennon); might as well make it good Karma (Craig Ewing)

The boys finished the weekend off in style with one-for-the-books finish against a very good Springfield Glendale team.

With just over 2 minutes to go, the Beast found Liam just outside the box. Liam took a great touch to push himself towards goal, drawing a PK.

With both Laws and Coop out for the match, we brought Bobby up for the PK. The goalkeeper saved LeBourveau’s put back when Bobby’s ball came off the post, but not the hustle slide-shot by Janeway.

We headed to overtime.

We almost scored 30 seconds in with a long direct kick that Bissen headed back across for a Ryan header that somehow was saved.

It did not matter, as Spencer Ragan found Jayden Janeway for the game winner 6 minutes later on the long, ground diagonal switch that sent Janweay once agin to goal.

And it was over.

It had been a match that the boys took an early lead in with a great quick through ball from Ryan to Ragan. We held the lead throughout the first half.

The second half virtually started with a Glendale goal off a throw-in to #23. He received it, turned and fired.

About midway through we are called for another handball in the box. Maverick just made a great save of the PK to keep us alive. (He did have several of his teammates pointing to him which way to dive—and he did dive that way, quite well!) Put that save with George's goal-saving dive in the first half, an we have 2 goals denied by our keepers.

With only 8 minutes left in the second half, Glendale splits our backline with a through ball that lands on #1's front foot for the touch-in.

Things looked a bit bleak, but instant karma arrived just in the nick of time. The boys had played so hard, cheered one anther on so well, and let the ref call his game without any help. Lots of good karma was in the air.

And dang if it did not just settle in around their goal area.

STATS:

First Half:

Saints: Shots: 6 (4) 3 EG: 3 Corners: 3 (Lebourveau 2, Ragan)

25:45 Ragan (Noah hits the solid header forward to Liam who settles, turns and flicks a perfect through ball—just a great goall)

Glendale: 6 (2) EG: 1 Corners: 1

Second Half:

Saints: Shots: 10 (8) Corners: 3 (Janeway, Bissin, Ryan)

2:18 Janeway (Bobby's PK screams off the post but gets put back-on by Lebourveau and again it is saved again but followed via slide-in by Jane)

2:03 OT Janeway: (with a nifty head-flick, Ragan pushes the ball forward to Janeway who does the rest.) What a finish!

Glendale: 4 (3) EG: 3

39:31 23 (off long throw in to #23 feet who turns away from the double team into a left-footed shot)

8:00 #1 (just a bad goal as we do not pressure the ball anywhere on the field allowing a through ball to split our left centerback and left back)
